I been working on a story to submit to RTE. So I haven't been documenting my unemployment journey as much. In a few days it will be day 20 and I'll be a third way through my notice. I am yet to speak with a hiring manager and that's freaking out a bit.
There's 22 working days in May and I'm working 21 days because it's my second to last paycheck from my current job.
I was out in my hammock today, went to get groceries and then applied for a job. I took a break from scheduling posts on the Olólùfẹ́ Collective site to write this.
I need to :
Ask for an invoice
Submit my tax return
Write an ending for my story
Start my citizenship application
Hmmmm yesterday I had a technical interview that put me in a terrible mood. The interviewer was extremely hostile, dismissive and uninterested.
And today I started my period.
Tomorrow I have another interview. But I haven't had any more calls, I had an email from a recruiter but no more calls for interviews or anything about going to the next stage of meeting with hiring managers.
I also did a draft of an information sheet for the open mic we want to have for pride. Also I'm publishing my poems on Olólùfẹ́ Collective. I also have a tiktok to edit.
I'm feeling annoyed, it was blue skies today and I didn't go out to enjoy it.
I feel weird. I'm not happy.
Yesterday I didn't do much but lay in my hammock. Actually I did that in the morning then went for a medical appointment.
Then I spent my evening watching TV. I fear resubscribing to a streaming platform will be and has been distracting.
I didn't check for jobs, I have been thinking a lot about storytelling and a huge part of creativity is thinking, pondering and wondering.
Yesterday there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Today there's some clouds but the weather is still warm. I'm back in my hammock. The carbon monoxide alarm needs replacing. We'll be getting the groceries later in the day and popping over to see a friend.
Yesterday also got the first draft for Seabed the poetry film Olólùfẹ́ Collective created. I had a few notes, as the location scout I'm very happy with my work. I'm trying to accept that that was our first film and that even now I have so much better understanding of cameras and lighting and colouring and editing.
Yesterday I got back to some friends as well. I haven't been in the mood to socialise much but yesterday was a nice catch up.
My extremely rough idea for a short story involves:
Boy mum's
Father absent abroad
A knowing aunt
Sex workers
House helps
And street vendors
A general strike
A murder
In other news I got another rejection today. I haven't applied for any jobs I think I'll get on my zoom this evening and do some creative stuff and check for jobs.
Oh yeah I spoke to my friend and had a wonderful conversation with them and they gave me a brilliant idea on how to help other indie artists.
Cancelled a subscription yesterday, applied for a few more jobs and went for a walk. I've been researching creative opportunities and grants as well.
Just had my first interview. It went well and I was able to switch on but boyyyy it was not a good fit.
It's extremely warm and I think I have an idea for a short story that I am thinking about submitting to a competition.
7 rejection, one follow-up call and one follow-up email. Looks like a return to the corporate world is on the table.

Day 7
Woke up to a follow up email and I ended up having two calls yesterday. I feel way less fearful, my skill set and experience are still in demand. I'm nearly done with my Disability Arts grant application. I've been thinking about my business and my art. I need to launch this blog, and I think I'm going to apply for a music camp thing. I need support and help if I'm to carry on making music. And yesterday I woke up to a DM about my music that I really needed.
I need to do grocery shopping.
